What is a "model"?

It was Richard Avedon with his work for Harper's Bazaar, between 1940 and 1960, who gave a new meaning to this word, changing the "what" to "who".
With his shots he transformed the image of a lifeless mannequin, a slave to the dress and the brand, into the protagonist of every photograph.
Even more interesting, for me, is the story of what precedes the shooting. The smiles behind the make-up, the boredom in front of smartphones, the tension before the catwalk.
In few words, all the human aspects which make’em “human”.
